Increasing proficiency with the drums is a process that is always ongoing for those that are dedicated to the instrument. Other drummers can be an excellent source of information and learning for those that want to learn and improve their skill sets.

The drums are an instrument that combines skill, technique, talent, and muscle memory together into one cohesive whole. The best way to improve is simply to play.

However, people may find that they are somewhat limited because everyone develops habits and paradigms that may interrupt their ability to progress. These kinds of roadblocks affect everyone, and simply represent a single way of doing things.

Those that want to increase their skills with the drums should seek out other musicians and play with them, as well as asking them to help with technique. Learning from others with an instrument may open up different ways of doing things that may make a real difference.

Some people find it helpful to listen to others drum tracks. There are a variety of tracks available, for example rock drum tracks and jazz drum tracks are very popular.

Additionally, other people should be able to advise someone’s on their skill and technique, by offering an unbiased opinion on what they are doing. There may be performance aspects that people keep that may be impeding their progress or reducing their effectiveness.

These flaws are simply part of being a musician, but most people are going to be blind to them. It is very difficult for people to self-evaluate what they are doing, simply because of the inherent biases that are going to be associated with the process.

Therefore, the first benefit that comes along with asking others for help is getting an honest evaluation from others. These evaluations are invaluable in nature, because it lets performers know their strengths and weaknesses, as well as helping them to improve.

Indeed, these evaluations should be honestly sought out wherever possible. It may not always be a pleasant experience being judged ion this way, but it does help in many different ways.

The feedback of peers should be greatly helpful when someone is drumming. Accepting feedback and integrating it into the skill set that one has should make a real difference in helping them to be a more effective force.

The next benefit that comes with playing with others is that people can learn from the uniqueness of others. As stated, every single person is going to be somewhat different in their approach and techniques.

As such, some people will have developed ways to play that can range from being helpful to being truly revolutionary. Therefore, it is advisable for drummers that are trying to get better should do their best to appreciate the uniqueness that every person has, as well as learning effectively from it.

The next benefit that comes from playing the drums with others is that it is fun. Playing with others is an enjoyable experience.

Seeing what other people have to contribute to the music that is being played is always enjoyable. Coming up with a piece together is something that allows participants to create something using only their skills and the picture that they have for the music ion their minds.

All of these benefits make playing the drums with other people well worth it in nature, as the results will be pronounced over the course of time. Those that make a conscious effort to improve should find that their skills are rising and improving as they intake new ways of doing things.

The benefits that are derived from the experience can truly make an individual a better drummer as they strive for better results. Learning form others is a vital part of the experience, and it is one that can change up the way that one perceives music.

Music is a dynamic force that is constantly evolving and being refined, mostly due to the efforts of those that want to learn and improve. Over time and with practice, the person who wants to improve will surely get better, increasing their knowledge and abilities one day at a time.

Other drummers can be an excellent source of information and learning for those that want to improve their skill sets. By integrating what others have to offer into an existing skill set people have the chance to adapt and improve in ways that they may not have expected.

Guitars comes in all different shapes and sizes but they all have certain elements in common. A custom-shaped guitar might look odd and be purely for novelty value, but in order for it to function properly, it has to have certain design features that match with the overall concept of a guitar.

For many beginners, the jargon associated with describing the various parts of a guitar can be confusing and bewildering, but I’m going to clarify a few things for you in this article.

Let’s take a couple of the most important aspects of the guitar and explain them in turn.

The Strings

Guitar strings are made from steel or nylon and are stretched along the length of the guitar at various tensions to produce the different notes.

The thickest string is called the 6th string and is normally tuned to the note of E. The thinnest string is also tuned to E but produces a note two octaves higher than the 6th string.

The strings are tuned in the following way, going from the sixth string up to the 1st string: E, A, D, G, B, E. Alternate tunings are sometimes used by musicians to allow them to play certain chord progressions with greater ease but the above tuning is the norm and is referred to as the “standard” tuning.

For more information on how to tune a guitar, Click Here!

The Fretboard

The fretboard is the strip of wood attached to the body of the guitar which is used to alter the length of each of the strings that is free to vibrate. This is achieved by pressing the strings against the fretboard immediately behind the desired fret.

A fret is basically a piece of wire embedded into the wood of the fretboard which serves as a solid base from which the string can vibrate. This gives the string a brighter, sharper note that lasts longer than would be the case if the string was shortened simply by the guitarist holding the string against the fretboard with his finger without any fret being present.

You could say that the whole point of MP3 is to standardize audio, seeing that it is considered by many to be the standard digital audio format for all music files. MP3 is digitally patented and retains its immense popularity in the music industry because it doesn’t take up too much storage space. But if you are looking for an incredible, flawless and lossless audio quality for your favorite album or musician, then you will be astounded as to how FLAC can redefine your listening experience.

Most of the great music from the touted great musicians and artists are now being released to the consumers’ market, mostly musicians’ studio albums and compilation albums just to satisfy the high quality demands of most consumers. The Eagles’ title album “Hotel California” as well as the band’s latest album “Long Road Out of Eden” were released in FLAC and consumers will find listening to these concept albums enthralling.

Other notable great musicians and artists who have released music in FLAC format include U2 (The Best 1980-1990), Bob Marley (The Gold Collection, etc), Michael Jackson (Thriller), Pink Floyd (The Wall, Dark Side of the Moon), The Doors (The Best of The Doors), Aerosmith (Greatest Hits), Frank Sinatra (Sinatra’s Sinatra), Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin I & II) , Radiohead (OK Computer) and many more. But probably the highlight among the news that concerns FLAC happened when the 14 remastered albums of The Beatles was released in 24-bit FLAC format.

FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec – an audio format for music files that is “lossless”, uncompressed and downright high in sound quality. This audio format is highly applauded especially from the community of music enthusiasts and audiophiles, who would want nothing but flawless sound quality among anything else. The FLAC format may not be as popular as the MP3 format, but its seekability feature and non-propriety quality makes it one of the fastest growing audio formats these days.

With lossless music formats at your disposal you are in great shape. Grab a cold drink from the refrigerator and sit down to soak up your favorite tunes at the highest possible quality!

For more than 40 years, the Shure SM58 has been basically the go-to microphone for sound-engineers, musicians, singers, and producers around the world. It has garnered a reputation of durability, and dependability. You never have to worry about the Shure SM58 when you are performing or ministering. It will be dependable. Lets look at some of the reasons I call this microphone the workhorse.

Call Now: 888-924-1604

The Faithful Vocal Companion: While traveling and doing music with my group, I often encouraged new singers that joined my group to invest in their very own Shure SM58. Some of them actually took my advice, and their microphone became their close traveling companion. This microphone has a boosted presence in your vocal tracks because it features specially tuned midrange response. It doesn’t fall into the category of microphones that makes your vocals get lost in the mix, because it cuts through the instrumental tracks so that the singer will be right out front.

CLICK BELOW TO PURCHASE THE SHURE SM58

Shure SM58 Dynamic Vocal Microphone

Quiet As A Mouse: No singer, producer, sound-engineer, or musicians wants a microphone that produces unnecessary noise. In order to bring smoothness and clarity to vocalist using this microphone Shure has a unique spherical filter on the SM58. This filter is used to minimize ambient noise, and cut down on breath and wind sounds that ruin recorded tracks. This microphone has an internal shock mount. This shock mount reduces the handling noise that comes with performances. The noises associated with pulling the mic out of its clip, or adjusting its position is also minimized. Whenever a Shure SM58 is mounted on a stand, floor vibrations won’t enter the signal stream. This mic is officially “Quiet As A Mouse”.

The Durability: This microphone has durability beyond comprehension. When you first hold the Shure SM58 in your hand, you can feel that it’s a heavy-duty microphone. Some of the veteran rock bands tell stories of how they have basically hammered the stage together with the SM58, and then sang and entire gig with the same microphone. Shure has a drop test that they have tested on the Shure SM 58, and the microphone passed it with flying colors. Lets look at what the test entails. They drop the microphone ten times from a height of teen feet and higher. If the microphone makes it through this test without any drop in performance it gets a passing grade. The Shure SM81 also passed this test…. but that’s a different article.

In conclusion, this microphone is a really smart choice for anyone connected to music. I have used the SM58 countless times, for countless reasons.

If you’ve ever wondered why mainstream national and international artist seem to have the hottest beats, which are difficult to duplicate. Perhaps you don’t know what it means to own and effectively operate an Akai MPC. Akai’s MPC series is the industry standard in beat production. Almost all mainstream artists use it to bring fullness to their overall sound. Today I will discuss the Akai MPC 2500, and reasons that this machine is a good buy.

Call Now: 888-924-1604

Contained in one Desktop unit is a lot of power. The Akai MPC 2500 has a 64-track MIDI sequencer with a 32-voice 16-bit stereo digital sampler. It also houses 16 velocity and pressure sensitive all rubber pads. This makes for some efficient sampling. Lets take a look at some of the dynamic pluses that this workhorse comes standard with.

The first thing that catches your eye with this great machine is the large LCD screen. This screen allows you to clearly view the sequence data. It displays features like continuous MIDI data, and drum machine ‘grid’ to name a couple.

Secondly, I’m in love with this next bit of information. This thing comes standard with 2 internal effects processors that can be used simultaneously. Don’t take that bit of information lightly. Let me explain what the entails. There is a very wide range of effects algorithms, these include but not limited to… delay, reverb, chorus, bit grunger, phasers, 4-band EQ, phase shifter, and flying pan. This is a beat production control freak’s dream come true.

Lastly, we will delve into the shallow waters of the direct recording feature. We won’t launch out into the deep on this particular feature. That’s going to have to take a whole article devoted to just that feature. However, we will discuss the direct recording feature some. If you own any of the MPC’s prior to the MPC 2500, you will be very welcoming of the direct recording feature. This feature gives you the ability to jam your sequences. Now, whenever you want to start recording a sample, the MPC 2500 will remember the location/song position of the recording. There is also an option for it to automatically place it into your arrangement at the original location. Must say though; that the samples are stored in R A M. It will not record onto your hard drive. This means that the MPC 2500 can’t be used like a multi-track HD recorder.

In conclusion, the above should be enough for you to want to own this capable machine. Get your money together and catapult yourself to another level in beat production. There are few versions of it too…. the MPC 2500 LE. as well as the MPC 2500 XL.

They have 20 years of experience invested in the game. I am an avid fan of the MPC. It is an ever-evolving machine that holds still at the top of the hip-hop, and most all other genres that utilize beat production. Although they hold fast the top spot in beat production, they still continue to evolve into a better product. Ladies and gentlemen, I introduce to you Akai’s MPC 5000. Let’s talk about of a few of its features!!!

Call Now: 888-924-1604

The Sixth Sense (Synth): If you’ve ever wanted to eliminate the need for an external analog synth module or a software based synthesizer, then you’re reading the right article. This monster of a machine increased sampling power that trumps the MPC 2500. It also has three oscillators. two LFO’s, and two ADSR envelopes… (and the same filtering is available to the sampler). With the MPC 5000, you can now add sounds to any arrangement, because of the built-in multi-timbral 20-voice polyphonic virtual analog synth. The available hard-wired modulation routings use the internal LFO’s, envelopes, as well as utilize MIDI, after touch, pitch-bend, and mod wheel controller information to make patches more expressive. This sixth sense of synth catapults this machine higher in its performance.

All Aboard (The Sound Library): The CR78, the TR808, and a host of acoustic and electric drum sets are among the selection of samples that are contained on the MPC 5000′s Flash ROM. And that is a large variety as it relates to samples. However, the hard drive includes three folders of samples from Loopmasters. Inside of these three folders are a lot of samples. In the first folder there are mapped kit programs; in the second folder there are drum hits by themes; and finally in the third folder there is a selection of complete loops. This sound library is extensive for beat production.

Multi-track Hard Disk Recording: I had to save this feature for last, because it’s the best. Akai has hung their hat on the built-in multi-track recorder to market the MPC 5000. This feature allows you to layer up to eight tracks of linear recording parallel to your sequenced backing track. You are allowed to record up to two of those tracks at a time. After you have recorded, the multi-track audio can be edited. The available operations for this editing is gain, fade, normalize, silence, cut, copy, and paste. There are post-editing features, like import, and export. This is the first time this feature has been available on the MPC 5000. And its one worth hanging your hat on.

In conclusion, I have to say that this Akai MPC 5000 is by far the best so far. If you’re into beat production, this is the machine that you need to add to your arsenal. My name is Fred Houston, and I approve this message.

The main seller among Yamaha’s line of keyboards is the Motif series. With that fact in mind, let us not think that because it’s the top seller that it’s the only one of high quality. There is one lurking in the shadow of the motif, waiting on you to want to pay a little less, and still have great quality. This lurker happens to be the Yamaha MO8. Just like most of the Yamaha synths, the Yamaha MO8 has an Advance Wave Memory 2 tone generator. This workstation is really a scaled back version of the Motif, and has a lot of similarities. It is designed for musical production and serves as great companion for a passionate musician. Lets take a perusal of some of the features of the MO8, so that you can be an educated buyer.

Call Now: 888-924-1604

It’s Hammer Time: Most of the time a real pianist wants to play a keyboard that feels like a real piano. And if you are anything like them, then an 88 key hammer action keyboard is what you need. The Yamaha MO8 is a hammer action keyboard. The technology behind this hammer action is, actual hammers built in the keyboard. This makes the simulation of a real piano a reality. The simulation of every key on the MO8 has the same velocity as that of a real piano.

I’m A Sound Hound Control Freak: The good thing about the MO8 is that the sound set is based on the sound set of the Motif ES. Its wide variety of instruments makes this keyboard a must have. From its chubby string ensembles, to its star studded acoustic guitars, this machine has great sounds. And lets not forget the all to familiar piano sounds that defines the Yamaha experience. It also has an extensive list of synth sounds and 32 drum kits. This library of sounds can be tweaked and saved.

Cause, Effect: This great workstation’s effects processor is one of power. It has over 190 effects with 116 insertion effects. There are two sets of insertion effects and one can be applied in voice mode. In performance, song, and pattern mode the insertion effects can be applied for up to 3 parts in three different MIDI channels. There are also 69 different system effect, 8 different master effects, and there is even a master EQ.

Overall, I am pleased with the Yamaha MO8. The hammer action is identical to the hammer action on the Yamaha Motif XS8. The sounds are great and the control that you have over them is desirable. However, I am not very enthused about the lack of after touch or the breath controller input. This is a great buy in my opinion.

Their reasoning for that thought is completely filled with validity. Yamaha continues to be the leading brand in a host of instruments, accessories, and musical gear. Simply put; YAMAHA ROCKS!!!!!!! Its always a plus for a company to have an upward mobility when it comes to their products and services. With that in mind, I would like to hone in on the Yamaha Motif XS8 today. First, I would like to take a very miniscule peek at its evolution. Yamaha first came out with the first Motif workstation in 2001. It quickly became the new standard with its super sonic capabilities, and its performance features in real-time. This quickly made it the preferred choice for professionals. Yamaha, knowing that they were on to something great, continued to enhance the Motif workstation. In 2003 Yamaha introduced the Motif ES (Extensive Sonic) to the music world. It had more polyphony and more waveforms than the original Motif. The next wave of evolution came with the Yamaha Motif XS8. It now has 355MB of waveforms, a huge color LCD screen, eight real-time knobs and sliders, and more than doubled the polyphony of the original Motif to 128 voices. This machine’s awesomeness is massive. I’d like to delve into some of the enhancements you can expect from this workstation.

The Sounds: If you know anything about Yamaha’s keyboard line, you would know that its full of great piano sounds. This 88 key-weighted series of the Motif is no different. Its default keyboard is the Full Concert Grand Piano, this sound is beautiful and authentic it will leave you wanting to hear it everyday. The pads and the organs are great for live performances if you don’t have a Hammond B3 handy. They also sound great in pro- tools. I’m in love with the string patches, particularly the Stryngs patch. Others patches, like the Solo Violin and the Solo Viola are great also. There are a host of FX sounds that spark my creativity when I hear them. This board is loaded with quality sounds that can be used in any musical situation.

The Control: With the Yamaha Motif XS8, you have more control than any of the previous workstations. There are 8 assignable knobs and sliders. That’s a 4-slider expansion from the ES model. The knobs give you the ability to tweak the attack, resonance, sustain, cut-off, decay and a host of EQ effects. There are two assignable function buttons with the connections also. Those connections are for two assignable foot-switches, as well as foot-controllers. The control that you have with this workstation is what any keyboard player would want.

User Friendly Platform: The Yamaha Motif XS8 would have been a very hard to master workstation had it not been for the simplicity put into the complexity of its platform. It is arranged into nine main modes: PERFORM, VOICE, SONG, PATTERN, MIXING, MASTER, UTILITY, SAMPLING and FILE. An example of how these modes simplify things for you would be: If you are in performance mode, it will allow you to layer up to four voices simultaneous voices. However, if you are in voice mode, you can only play one voice at a time. I’m impressed by the ease of use this complex machine has.

The Motif continues to reinvent itself over and over again. The Motif XS8 is a great improvement from the ES, and an even greater improvement from the Yamaha MO8. I would highly recommend this machine to anyone who is ready to play and control a professional but simple workstation. TWO THUMBS UP!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I think about a great guitar, a couple of brands come to mind. The two brands that I live and die by are Fender, and Gibson. Although I like both brands, I am partial to Gibson because of one particular Guitar. That guitar is the Gibson Les Paul Traditional. This guitar is phenomenal to say the least. I am so impressed with this guitar that I don’t think I could ever express its total worth in words. However, I can tell you about some of the near perfect qualities that you get with this guitar. If you need a reason to buy this guitar, here are five good reasons you should consider.

Reason 1 (The Neck): The first thing that caught my attention about the neck of the Gibson Les Paul Traditional guitar, is that its constructed with mahogany in the “rounded 50′s”, musicians love this about Gibson. The second thing was that the strength between the neck and body. Gibson went the extra mile to reinforce the connection between the neck and body using the Mortis and Tenon joint. This is stronger than just a single slab of wood. Gibson also uses Franklin Tite Bond 50 glue (the best in the business) to form the connection at the Mortis and Tenon Joint. These variables about the neck of this guitar are second to none. This leads me to my second reason you should buy this instrument.

Reason 2 (The Pickups): Every good guitar player that has quality knowledge of guitars, is very interested in the pickups on the instrument. The Gibson Les Paul Traditional uses signature double coil humbuckers. These humbuckers are the driving force behind the evolution of rock music. They are very intense pickups and produce a sound that is very unique. In addition to this unique sound, the pickups are very easy to adjust with a screwdriver. If you raise the pickup closer to the string you will get more punch, and sound output. These are in my opinion the best factory pickups you can ask for.

Reason 3 (The Fingerboard): I wont say a lot about this top of the line finger board. However, the few words that I mention will let you know it’s the best in class of guitars. First, It has 22 alloy wire frets. If you are a guitar nut, you know that 22 alloy frets is very desirable. Secondly, it’s made of rosewood (enough said). There is a slight angle near the top of the neck; this gives musicians an added luxury of comfort.

Reason 4 (Body Design and Weight): In my opinion, Gibson has the best design that enhances the musical experience of the musician playing it than any of its competitors. This includes and arched top and a chambered back, to add resonance, and reduce weight. The method that they used to increase the playability and further decrease the weight is one of brilliance. They simply cut out a portion of the treble side, where the neck joint meets. Before the body is fitted with the necessary hardware, it weighs just less than 5 lbs.

Reason 5 (The Hardware): At this point, I’m convinced that you are sold on this guitar. I will only list the hardware so that you are aware of what you’re getting in terms of hardware. The guitar is loaded with durability, and has a look of elegance. To add to that look is hardware that leaves you breathless. It has 14/1 classic looking tuners, aluminum strap buttons, a tune-omatic bridge, black speed knobs, and a black/white vinyl truss rod.

As you can see, I’ve concluded that the Gibson Les Paul Traditional is a great buy. A good companion to this guitar is the Fender Frontman 212R guitar amplifier. Well, don’t just sit there; make your next move toward your very own Gibson Les Paul Traditional.
